Tropical Storm Isaias - Guest Updates

Posted 8/4/2020 at 8:25 am

Tropical Storm Isaias has left our area so we are now in the beginning phases of assessing damages it caused and the clean up process.

Most of the area is still without power, including our office. Power companies are aware and are working to restore service as quickly as possible. Unfortunately we do not have any control nor do we know when everyone will have power back.

Until our power has been restored we do not have phone service at the office. If you have left a message, we will respond to everyone once we are able.

Our plan is to check each house and touch base with each rental party today so please be patient with our staff as we go through this process.

As a preliminary check, we ask that all guests check around their rental properties and EMAIL us at Rentals@topsailarea.com if you see any damage that needs immediate attention.  Our emergency line (910-328-5211 x3) will be available for guests who experience a true rental emergency until our phone service has been restored. Please DO NOT CALL this line unless you are experiencing a true emergency to keep our staff member available for those in need.

Please refer to each towns Facebook page for specific town updates in regards to Beach Access, Trash Schedule Delays and other storm related information:

We will be UPDATING THIS PAGE with any further information that you may need.

If you have any questions please email rentals@topsailarea.com.

Thank you

Due to an influx of calls, we ask that you please email us instead of calling our office if you have any questions or concerns about the following statement.

We have been watching the forecast for Tropical Storm Isaias (previously Hurricane Isaias).

There have been no mandatory or voluntary evacuation orders issued for Topsail Island and winds are projected to be less than 60 mph as the storm passes our area. State of emergencies have been issued as a governmental precaution.  Please refer to each towns facebook page for specific town updates in regards to Beach Access Closures, Curfews, Trash Schedule Delays and other storm related information:

We ask that all guests please remain calm.

Prior to the storms arrival this evening we ask that you please secure loose
outdoor items and deck furniture. If you are able please bring deck furniture inside. If you are not able, please bring it closer the property and lay chairs on their side to make them less likely to be picked up by stronger wind gusts. Please also secure the trash and recycle carts at the property by tieing them closed or moving them to an enclosed area such as the outside shower or garage. Your property may suffer from door and window leaks from wind driven rain. This is normal for this type of weather event. Please place towels as necessary and report any leaks to our office after the storm.

DO NOT GO OUTSIDE DURING THE STORM. There will be heavy rains, and strong winds so for your safety, please remain indoors once the storm arrives and until the storm has passed. Some roads on the Island may become impassable due to flooding during and after the storm. Please drive with caution. The towns typically will post when there is a road closure so be sure to monitor the pages above for up to date information. If we see sustained winds of 45 mph or higher, both island access bridges will be closed to vehicular traffic until it is safe to reopen.

If this Tropical Storm does as predicted, our area will see heavy rains and strong winds over night. There is a possibility of power outages but our local utility providers are prepared for this event as well. Our areas has experienced Nor'easters that have been more volatile than this Isaias is planned to be. We will be UPDATING THIS PAGE with any further information that you may need.  Our AFTER HOURS emergency on call line (910-328-5211 x3) will be available for guests who experience a true rental emergency outside of our normal office hours, Please note that no service vendors will be sent out to properties once the storm arrives and until after the storm has passed.

We encourage all guests to monitor reliable news sources, such as https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ for up to date information on the storms activity. We personally also monitor https://spaghettimodels.com/. This website provides a ton of useful information from multiple sources in regards to the latest weather concerns.

If you have any questions please email rentals@topsailarea.com.

Thank you and stay safe everyone.

Due to an influx of calls, we ask that you please email us instead of calling our office if you have any questions or concerns about the following statement.

We are monitoring Hurricane Isaias and will keep all guests informed as we receive updates about the storm and how our area will need to prepare for it. As of this morning ( 7/31/2020) there have been no mandatory evacuation orders issued by any of the town officials here on Topsail Island and guests are welcome to check in this weekend for their reservations as planned.

In the event that your party will be delaying their check in, please let our staff know so that we can prepare the home if that becomes necessary.

Until any mandatory evacuation orders are issued, it is unlikely that Travel Insurance will issue reimbursements in the event that you choose to cancel your stay.  We encourage guests who have purchased a Travel Insurance plan to contact the insurance company for more information on their coverage. If you purchased the insurance through Lewis Realty then you have coverage provided by AIG - Travel Guard. Travel Guard can be reached by calling 1-877-249-5376 and referencing product code  109409 P1 and Lewis Realty Associates, Inc account number 135223

Guests who did not purchase Travel Insurance who choose to cancel their stay due to the storm will be held to our normal cancellation policy. We will not be issuing refunds unless the dates of your reservation are re-booked by another party.

For now we encourage all guests to monitor reliable news sources, such as https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ for up to date information on the storms activity. We personally also monitor https://spaghettimodels.com/. This website provides a ton of useful information from multiple sources in regards to the latest weather concerns.

Our hope is that this storm will pass with little to no impact to our area and you will be able to enjoy your time here on Topsail.

Please email us at Rentals@topsailarea.com if you have any questions or concerns and stay tuned for future storm updates.
